Key Features of Magento 2 Cart Reservation Extension

Magento 2 Cart Timer allows site owner to create urgency without pressure. Items in your customer shopping cart will expire after a certain amount of minutes. This makes your customers want to hurry and buy before someone else does. Events and products can sell out quickly so clients must keep an eye on the countdown clock in their cart in order to secure the picks. If an item they want is in another member's cart, they can refresh the browser or check back on the item throughout the duration of the event to see if it has become available.

Temporary Reserve Products in Shopping Carts

When product is added to a cart, the client will see a timer notifying that the reservation has started and will expire soon.
Reserved products are not available for other clients and guaranteed to be sold to the clients who added them to shopping carts.

Global or Independent Cart Reservation Timers are Available

Admin can configure extension to display one “global timer” for a whole shopping cart. When user adds a new product to a cart – the timer will reset and start the reservation from the beginning.
It is also possible to use “countdown timer for each product separately”. This way each product in shopping cart will have its own reservation timer running independently from other timers.

There are two types of cart reservation timers available: the countdown timer for each product separately or reservation of all products in the cart. The extension allows you to set the general time of reservation including both cart reservation and checkout reservation providing more time for the purchase to be completed which leads to higher sales conversion rates and higher customer satisfaction. Lastly the website owner has two options for products after the reservation time expires - to delete the products from the cart or to leave them in the cart unreserved.

I have been using Plumrocket's Magento Cart Reservation for a few months now and have been quite happy with it!

It worked out the box with no issues and the default styles look professional enough that I did not feel the need to make any major customizations to it.

This is a must have if you have a limited quantity of stock products.
The possibility to reserve product create a trusted feeling and a sense of urgency to complete checkout.

We have been using cart reservation for some time now. This is a must have tool for any magento store offering a limited stock of products to their customers. The usual checkout process in magento is very frustrating as it allows multiple users to add the same item to the shopping cart at the same time. Which means that the product will be sold not to the customer who added it to the cart first but to the customer who was faster at checkout page. This doesnt make sense in the usual brick and mortar stores. So people get upset not getting the item and leaving your store unsatisfied. This was a problem for us and cart reservation extension solves this fantastically!!!
One last thing. We had one issue installing this extension on our custom theme. Make sure to follow documentation as it explains how to install it specifically for custom themes. Otherwise you will be fine.

How to Set Magento Countdown Timer on Product and Category Pages
In addition to displaying cart and checkout countdown timers, the Magento 2 Cart Reservation extension also makes it possible to display a timer and reservation notification on both Product and Category pages. The product becomes reserved for a certain period of time after a user adds it to the cart. Therefore, other customers can see that the product will be sold out soon.

How to Set Magento Countdown Timer on Specific Product Page

You can set a Reservation Timer and Reserver status on a product page in few simple steps:
1. Go to Magento admin panel -> Catalog -> Products -> select the needed product
2. Scroll down to the Cart Reservation Status field
3. Set it to Inherited to use the same timer as its Parent Category, OR to Enabled to use a custom timer
4. Click Save
Once you have set the cart reservation status of the product, you can also customize the text and time format displayed on the countdown timer block. This block will appear on both Product and Category pages after the product has been reserved.
1. In the main Magento menu, go to the Plumrocket tab -> Cart Reservation -> Configuration
2. Scroll down to the Timer Settings section -> customize the Product Page Timer Format field
3. Click Save Config

How to Set Magento Countdown Timer on Category Pages

You can also display a timer and reservation notification for products on Category pages. Follow these simple steps to enable it:
1. Go to Magento admin panel -> Catalog -> Categories -> select the needed Category
2. Set the Cart Reservation Status field to Enabled
3. Click Save
Apply Cart Reservation Without Reloading the Page

With the Auto Refresh feature, you can always display the dynamic cart timer and relevant product status to customers without reloading the page. This automatic page refresh works via Ajax, so you can disable the Add to Cart button and show the temporary out-of-stock message ("Reserved" label) immediately after another customer adds the item to cart.

Configure the auto refresh interval by going to the Plumrocket tab in the main Magento menu -> Cart Reservation -> Configuration -> Timer Settings -> Auto Refresh Interval.

How to Set Up Magento 2 Cart Timer
With the help of the Magento 2 Cart Timer extension, you can temporarily reserve products and display a cart reservation timer. After a product is added to cart, a user sees a timer signifying that the item reservation has started. From this moment an item becomes unavailable for other customers. Furthermore, the timer works on any website page, including the category and product pages.

How to Configure Magento 2 Shopping Cart Reservation Timer

The extension allows you to choose the mode for the shopping cart timer on Magento 2 store. You can either set a global timer for the whole shopping cart or a separate independent timer for each product in the cart. The global timer shows a general cart time counter and restarts every time a new product is added, whereas a separate one displays individual timers for each product.

In addition, the global timer is visible on both mini cart and cart when a separate timer is only displayed on the shopping cart page.

In order to set the Shopping Cart timer mode:
1. Go to Plumrocket -> Cart Reservation Configuration
2. Expand the Shopping Cart Timer section and select your Shopping cart timer mode: Global timer for all products in cart, or Separate timer for each product in cart.
3. Click Save Config to apply changes.
Furthermore, you can set the countdown time for the cart reservation timer. A default time will be applied to all customers on your website. However, you can display the timer based on a customer group. When you set the cart reservation time for a particular group, the default timer won’t be applied for these users.

What Happens When the Cart Timer Expires

Note that there are two options for When the countdown timer ends in the extension configuration, allowing you either remove or keep the products in the cart. In both cases, the product becomes available for other customers, but if the option is set to Keep products in the cart, a user can still buy it.
