AI shopping assistants can help customers find products, compare options, and prepare orders. But without structured access to a store, they often have to navigate pages and interpret buttons and forms, which can make shopping tasks less reliable.

WebMCP is an emerging web standard developed by Google and Microsoft to make these interactions easier. It allows websites to expose specific actions, called tools, that compatible AI agents can use directly.

The FREE Magento 2 WebMCP extension brings this functionality to your store with 9 built-in tools for product discovery, store information, cart management, checkout navigation, and order history. Agents interact with your existing Magento catalog and shopping functionality without requiring a separate AI integration. Signed-in customers can also ask their AI assistant to open their order history and view past orders.

You decide which tools are available, where agents can use them, and which shopping actions require customer approval. Settings can be configured for individual store views, including the content agents can search and the amount of information returned.

The extension is free and requires no AI subscription or API key from the merchant. During the WebMCP browser testing phase, an origin trial token is required to enable the functionality in supported browsers.
