In this article you will learn how to upgrade Magento Private Sales Package from v2.x to v3.x. Please, follow the instructions below.
Important Information:
- Make sure to backup all your Magento files and folders before you proceed with updating extension.
- Before you proceed with extension installation – you need to make sure that Compilation is disabled in your Magento. Please follow the steps outlined in this Wiki article to disable Compilation. Note: You don’t have to make step 2 if Compilation is permanently disabled in your Magento.
In order to upgrade Magento Private Sales Package to v 3.x follow the steps below.
1. Download the pssupgrade.zip archive and unzip it.
2. Upload this folder to the root directory of the site as shown below:
Detailed description:
- This is your client side. You will see the unpacked catalog containing the Magento Private Sales Package upgrade script.
- This is your root directory on server side. This is where the files should be uploaded.
- This file must be uploaded to the server. Select files and press the right mouse button.
- Select the “Upload” option for the folder.
3. Follow the instructions below to run an upgrading script.
Detailed description:
- Enter the “http://sitename.com/pssupgrade/” path into your browser address bar and follow it. Where “sitename.com” is the name of your domain.
- Press the “Run Step 1” button to proceed with Private Sales Script upgrading.

- Once Step 1 is completed, download Private Sales and Flash Sales Extension v3.x from your account and follow the installation guide below.

- Select “My Account” in the menu. (To open this page you have to log in first)
- Select “My Downloads” in the menu.

- In the extracted folder navigate inside “step1” directory and upload its content into your store root.
You may use any FTP-client in order to upload files to the server. (To show how it works we used the FTP-client FileZilla.)

The screenshot below depicts possible difficulties that can occur when you upload the files. In case there are identical files on the server, they should be overwritten. Below you will find detailed tips on how to overwrite files (when using the FTP-client FileZilla):
Step-by-Step action:
- If you receive the notification “Target file already exists” from your FTP-client, please, follow the tips described below.
- Select the “Overwrite” radio button in order to overwrite files.
- Tick the “Apply to current queue only” ?heckbox in order to save these settings for all similar cases of current queue configuration in the future.
- Press “OK”.
4. After you performed Magento Private Sales and Flash Sales Extension installation, follow the guide below.

- Press “Runs Step 2” button to proceed with Private Sales Script upgrading.

- After Step 2 is completed the following message will be received “Upgrading process is successfully completed!”.
5. Make sure to clear Magento cache and reindex data. In order to perform this, follow the instructions below:

- Go to the Admin Panel >> System.
- Click on Cache Management.

- Press the “Flush Magento Cache” button.
6. Once the cache has been cleared it is necessary to reindex the data. To do this, follow the instructions below:

- Select “Index Management”.

- Press the “Submit button”.
7. Check if everything OK and remove “pssupgrade” folder from your root directory.
