In this article, you can learn how to configure the Global Privacy Control (GPC) integration correctly. Please, follow the steps below to get it right.
General
In the main menu, go to the “Plumrocket” tab > select “Cookie Consent Pro” extension > navigate to the “Configuration”. In the “Integrations” section, you can find the Global Privacy Control (GPC) integration. Press the “Go to GPC Settings” button there to view and edit the GPC configurations.
Step-by-step guide:
- “Enable Extension”: set to “Yes” to enable Global Privacy Control integration.
- “Serial key”: enter the unique serial key provided to you after purchasing the extension. Note: In most cases, this field will be pre-filled with a serial key automatically, and the green checkmark will be displayed. To find and paste your serial key manually, read the Serial Key Activation article.
- “Geo Targeting”: select countries in order to limit GPC functionality to visitors from the selected countries.
- “U.S. States”: you can select one or multiple U.S. states to limit GPC functionality to visitors from these states.

Cookie Consent Management
Step-by-step guide:
- “Cookie Consent Behavior on GPC Signal“:
- (Recommended) set to “Decline All Non-Essential Cookies” to automatically decline all the non-essential cookies when GPC is enabled.
- set to “Decline Specific Cookie Categories” to automatically decline non-essential cookies only from the selected categories when GPC is enabled.
- 2. “Categories to Decline”: choose the specific non-essential categories that should be automatically declined when GPC is enabled.

Do Not Sell or Share Request Management
Important Note:
To use this feature, you should have the US Privacy Laws Pro extension installed in your Magento 2 store.
Step-by-step guide:
- “Enable Auto-Submission for Logged-in Users”: set to “Yes” to enable automatic opt-out submission for logged-in users when a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal is received. The system will handle the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” request without requiring user interaction.

GPC Opt-Out Notification
Step-by-step guide:
- “Enable”: set to “Yes” to show a notification on the user’s first visit confirming that their GPC opt-out request has been acknowledged. This helps demonstrate compliance with CPRA and other privacy laws that recommend honoring and visibly confirming user privacy preferences.
- “Notification”: enter the notification text that would be visible to the site visitors.

GPC .well-known Settings
Step-by-step guide:
- “Last Update Date”: enter the date when the GPC settings were last updated, using the format YYYY-MM-DD. This date is used in the .well-known/gpc.json file to indicate when your site declared GPC support. By default, it is set to the extension’s installation date.
- “Preview of .well-known/gpc.json File”: displays the content of the .well-known/gpc.json file, which lets browsers and privacy tools know that your site supports Global Privacy Control (GPC). This file includes the GPC status, version, and the last update date.
- “Save Config“: save the changes.
